The color scale indicates the range of count rates for the average background derived from all 21 pointings in this instrumental configuration. After applying the H-test filter, the raw data were first blocked 8x8 and then, after averaging, smoothed using a Gaussian with a sigma of 40 blocked pixels. The color scale was selected so as to maximize the contrast of any features within the image. This data can also be seen as a percentage difference from the mean and as a 3-D projection on an absolute scale. Or you can see all six plots at once
